Top 30 People: 2. JEROME PECRESSE, head of new renewables division, GE

Last year, GE's Anne McEntee was number one on the basis she would soon be in control of the combined Alstom-GE division. She had also quickly gained a high profile in the industry. However, recent changes show that McEntee will soon be responsible for onshore wind, reporting to the current Alstom Renewable Power president and soon-to-be CEO of GE Renewables, Jerome Pecresse.

He will oversee onshore and offshore wind, plus other renewables such as solar and hydro. GE believes it will have around $9 billion in revenue with 12,000 employees worldwide.

At the time of writing, the Alstom-GE deal has yet to be sealed and there are still questions as to how the new arrangement will work for wind. This was one reason why a GE employee is not number one again this year.

But Pecresse has form, having joined Alstom in 2010 from minerals company Imerys, where he was deputy CEO. In terms of wind, he has overseen Alstom through its development of the 6MW Haliade offshore turbine.
