The company will produce offshore turbine foundations at the updated facilities in Teeside, north-east England. The former shipyard facility was more recently owned by TAG Energy Soltuions, which provided monopile foundations for, among others, Humber Gateway wind farm.
Local and central government representatives joined the EEW and Bladt CEOs at last week's official opening. The company is expecting to provide 300 jobs by mid-2016.
OSB has already been given the contract to provide 40 transition pieces to Dong Energy's 660MW Walney Extenion project in the Irish Sea, with Bladt and EEW providing the remaining components.
The factory's first order, however, is to provide 16 transition pieces to Dong's 256MW Burbo Bank Extension.
