Vestas wins 24MW in Vietnam and 200MW in US

VIETNAM/US: Danish manufacturer Vestas has secured two contracts totalling 224MW from developers in Vietnam and the US.

Vestas has received two orders for its V100-2MW turbine

HydroChina has placed a 24MW order with Vestas for the supply of turbines to a site in Tuy Phong, south east Vietnam.

Vestas will manufacture 12 V100-2MW turbines for the Phu Lac project, which Vestas will service for five years.

"The Phu Lac wind park will be an important milestone in Vietnam's nascent wind energy sector", said HydroChina International president Chen Guanfu.

Vestas said the deal was part of a collaboration agreement signed between the two companies in May 2015.

United States

Last week, Vestas also won a contract to supply the V100-2MW turbine to US utility Xcel Energy's 200MW Courtenay project in North Dakota, US.

Vestas will deliver and install the turbines in 2016, with a servicing arrangement agreed for a further three years.

Courtenay was given the go-ahead by state regulators in November 2013. It had been developed by Geronimo Energy, but was acquired by Xcel Energy in April 2015.
