Nordex would consider any bids from interested parties for the purchase of the intellectual property and design rights to the N150/6000 6MW turbine. 

A a spokesperson told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç: "If there was any interest we would be open to talking [about it]."

It has not received any offers, and the company said it was unrealstic that it would find a buyer for the technology as no work has been done on the design since the offshore programme was closed three years ago.

Plans to develop the turbine were shelved in April 2012 by former CEO Jurgen Zeschky after the group failed to find a joint-venture partner and therefore said that its offshore plans would be too expensive.

The design remained on a drawing board and a prototype was never manufactured. The Nordex N150 6MW turbine would have been Nordex's first direct-drive machine and had a lower top-head mass than the 5MW machines of the time. It had also been lined up to be used at some German offshore projects, including the Arcadis Ost 1.

After abandonning offshore turbines, the company instead focused on developing its N117 2.4MW onshore model, which is designed for low wind speed conditions and targeted towards Chinese and European markets. It has since become one of the group's most popular models. 

New IP for Vestas

Another design that was languising unused has been picked up by Vestas. The Danish turbine manufacturer has acquired the IP from Modwind for a modular blade design. The core product was ready, but development stalled when it needed to be tested on a turbine.
