A joint venture between vessels firm Van Oord and cranes specialist Mammoet installed the first tower using a floating crane vessel. The joint venture previously installed the monopile foundations at the site.
The tower are being installed in two sections, before the nacelle and then the rotors are attached.
A total of 48 towers will be installed at the site, positioned between 500 metres and 1,200 metres from the banks of the dike, in depths of only three to seven metres.
First power from Westermeerwind is expected during the autumn, and full completion in February 2016.
It is the country's largest nearshore wind project. It is part of the Noordoostpolder project, which combines a further 38 Enercon 7.5MW turbines being installed onshore along the dike.
