Gamesa wins 38MW UK deal

UK: Gamesa has won a 38MW turbine order by Renewable Energy Generation (REG) to supply five onshore projects across the UK.

Gamesa will deliver 19 2MW turbines to the five projects. Developer REG said the sites would be online by the end of 2016. According to REG, Gamesa has also agreed a "long-term" servicing arrangement.

The projects to be powered by Gamesa's turbines are: the 12MW Hallburn Farm in Cumbria, north-west England; the 12MW Mynydd Portef in Wales; the 6MW Brackagh Quarry in Northern Ireland, the 4MW Rodbaston site in Staffordshire, central England; and the 4MW French Farm, near Peterborough in eastern England.

REG said the projects, costing £48 million (€65 million), would help to double its wind portfolio to 72.7MW.

According to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, Gamesa provided turbines to REG's 6MW Burnthouse Farm project in Cambridgeshire, eastern England. The site was commissioned in 2013.

It is Gamesa's second UK deal within a month. At the end of May, Gamesa was awarded a contract by Scottish Power to supply the 239MW Kilgallioch project in Scotland.
