Offshore project progress - 27 May

EUROPE: Recent updates from Vattenfall's Kentish Flats Extension in the UK and the Netherland's Eneco Luchterduinen site.

The final foundation has been installed at the Kentish Flats Extension

Eneco Luchterduinen

Two-thirds in: More than thirty of Eneco Luchterduinen's 43 Vestas V112-3.0 MW turbines have been installed.

The work is being carried out from Van Oord's Aeolus installation vessel, which can carry eight sets of components at a time.

The 129MW project – a joint venture between Eneco and Mitsubishi Corporation – is under construction 23km off the Dutch coast. It is due for completion this summer. 22-May-15

First power: The project has also delivered its first power to the Dutch grid.

The electricity comes ashore near Noordwijk via a 25-kilometre sub-sea cable. It continues underground for a further eight kilometres to Tennet's substation at Sassenheim. 22-May-15

Kentish Flats Extension

Cabling begins: Installation of Kentish Flats Extension's inter-array cables has begun.

The work is being carried out from the Nostag 10 installation vessel, at the project site seven kilometres off the UK's southeast coast.

The 49.5MW project is an extension of Vattenfall's 90MW Kentish Flats. 22-May-15

Foundations complete: All of the project's 15 foundations have been installed. The work was carried out from GeoSea's Neptune installation vessel.

The project is expected online later this year. Kentish Flats was unaffected by last week's earthquake in the area. 26-May-15
