The contract is for 116 V112-3.45MW turbines to go to the Rampion wind project off England's southern coast. According to MHI-Vestas the project will be commissioned in 2017.
The V112 3.45 turbine is an IEC S version of the IEC I V112 3.3MW machine.
In a statement, Vestas said the deal was for the turbine supply only. Overall, the deal bears similarities to MV's deal with E.on for the Humber Gateway project. That development uses V112 3MW turbines.
According to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç's data division, “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, MV has won over 460MW in offshore orders from E.ON, including Vestas orders.
The order follows an announcement by the Green Investment Bank (GIB) that it is taking a 19% stake of Rampion for £236 million.
Originally a Round 3 project, Rampion has suffered a succession of reductions. Last year it was reduced by 300MW.
