EMEA helps Nordex profit jump in Q1

GERMANY: Increased activity Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions has helped to increase Nordex's Q1 net profit 62% year-on-year to €14.8 million.

The N117/3000 will be installed at the Gibson Bay project in South Africa

Nordex said activity in America and Asia had fallen despite a 17% increase in sales.

Output has increased 44.2% with turbine production rising to 462.1MW. This is up from 320.5MW in the same period last year.

Earnings rose 17.3% from €21.1 million in 2014, to €24.8 million this year. Nordex said its order book now stands €1.6 billion. The board said it expects sales to increase to €2.1 billion this year, up from €1.7 billion in 2014. 

One of the manfuacturer's biggest deals of the quarter came in South Africa. Nordex secured a deal with Enel Green Power to supply 37 N117/3000 turbines to the Gibson Bay project in Eastern Cape.
