The Wind Collector Optimisation Service is designed to help utilities, developers and contractors to find the best layout for the project.
GE said it has developed an algorithm to give different options, highlighting the benefits and drawbacks of each design.
GE believes its new system will help reduce planning and installation costs, save time, and ensure the project is running efficiently. It said traditional planning methods restrict flexibility in the design once construction has begun and were time consuming and costly.
The company claims its new system could save 20% of the cost of designing the system and reduce design cycle times by 60%. GE has committed to a two-day design cycle.
Project developers will be able to view the various designs on Google Earth to see which is best suited to the site. The system also gives estimate costs of the cables and installation.
