Gamesa wins 220MW deal in Egypt

EGYPT: Gamesa has been awarded a turnkey construction order for a 220MW project in Egypt from NREA (New & Renewable Energy Authority).

The project will use Gamesa's G80 2MW turbines

The contract is for 110 G80 2MW medium-wind turbines to go to the Gulf of El Zayt wind project on the Red Sea coast. The project will be commissioned in 2017.

In February, “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç revealed Gamesa had been awarded the Gulf of El Zayt contract to engineer, procure and construct the project. At the time, it was only 120MW.

The deal includes a three-year service agreement.

According to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç's data division, “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, Gamesa has installed around 600MW in Egypt including the 545MW Zarafana project, also on the Red Sea.
