Vietnam receives grant for 300MW project

VIETNAM: The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has awarded a grant to Cong Ly Construction-Trade-Tourism Company Ltd, to aid the development of the 300MW Bac Lieu phase 3 nearshore project.

The grant will fund a feasibility study into the development, an extension of the existing 16MW Bac Lieu phase 1, and the 83.2MW phase 2.

The study will include a wind resource and energy assessment, a review of permitting and land control issues, grid connection and foundation design, construction cost estimates and a financing plan.

Bac Lieu 1 came online in August 2013. It uses ten 1.6MW GE turbines. Installation is currently underway on the 83MW Bac Lieu Phase 2, which is set to be completed this year.
