The Blaiken phase 3 project plans to use 30 2.5MW permanent-magnet direct drive turbines manufactured by Dongfang's in Hangzhou, east China.
Dongfang signed the SEK 600-million (€66-million) contract in June 2014. The 2.5MW turbine comes with an integrated anti-icing system developed independently by Dongfang in order to deal with the project's cold conditions.
Dongfang is required to install and test-run the first machines. The remaining machines will be delivered later this year.
The 57-year-old state-owned Dongfang Electric Corporation is an established manufacturer of large electronic equipment, mainly generators used in the coal-fired, hydro, nuclear, wind and solar power sectors.
Dongfang has exported several 1.5MW turbines to Finland. The machine has passed GL type certification and was certificated for low-voltage ride through performance as well.
