Speaking to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç TV, he said: "The area I'm working on, which is construction, can have a big effect on how we reduce costs. I think the key element for us is to try to move work from offshore to onshore.
"There is a high margin when doing things offshore, hours are more expensive and things take a longer time. It is a path we have been working on for some time."
MHI Vestas has a pre-assembly site in Esbjerg in Denmark, where it is trying to do some of the things it used to do offshore
But cost reduction goes beyond construction techniques, Ougaard argued, pointing to greater cooperation between contractors as key.
"I've been in this industry for 14 years, and I can see how we have prepared, from project to project, and this is one of the areas that in the future we need to focus more on — to smooth out the interfaces between suppliers," he said.
"If you get to a turbine and you are planning to do work, and there's already someone there working on electrical connections or something like that, then you have wasted a day."
