First turbine installed at Amrumbank West

GERMANY: Siemens has installed the first 3.6MW turbine at E.on's 288MW Amrumbank West project in the German North Sea.

Turbines set to be installed at Amrumbank West

Amrumbank West is due to be completed later this year. Monopiles, transition pieces and a substation have been installed at the site, located 37 kilometres off the island of Heligoland.

The turbines were delivered by the MPI Adventure. The project will consist of 80 turbines when it is complete.

In July last year, Siemens installed the HelWin2 transformer platform in the German North Sea for grid operator Tennet.

Although the platform has a capacity of 690MW, only Amrumbank West, due online in 2015, is lined up to use it.
