GE picked for Chinese 151MW

CHINA: GE is to supply turbines with a capacity of 151MW to a project in China after winning an order from state-owned utility China Huaneng Corporation.

GE will install its 2.75MW turbines on the project

The US manufacturer will install 55 GE 2.75-120 turbines at the Huaneng Dali Longquan project in Yunnan province in southern China. The deal includes a two-year service agreement.

This is GE's largest turbine order in China. According to the Chinese Wind Energy Association, GE has around 1.2GW installed in the country, compared with Gamesa's 3.5GW and Vestas's 4.5GW.

In 2013, GE ended its joint venture with Chinese firm Harbin Electric, which it set up in 2010 to run two manufacturing plants in China.

The country installed 20.7GW of new wind capacity in 2014, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
