Minister of Energy and Mines Bill Bennett launched construction of the CAD 400-million (US$-284 million) project near Tumbler Ridge. Work has now begun on clearing the site.
Construction of the foundations is set for June, with the delivery of the turbines due in June 2016. A commissioning date of November 2016 has been set.
The project will be made up of 61 turbines each with a capacity of 3MW. A turbine supplier is yet to be named by Pattern.
The development is located within the traditional territory of the Treaty Eight First Nations. "The involvement and support of First Nations throughout project development has been fundamental to the project's success," said Pattern.
Pattern has agreed a 25-year power purchase agreement with utility, BC Hydro.
