Seven fishing organisations have been given the cash by West of Morecambe Fisheries, a body set up by Dong, Scottish Power Renewables, SSE and Vattenfall to encourage the coexistance of offshore wind and commercial fishing.
The money will be used to improve safety for fishermen working in UK waters, and help them find work in the offshore renewables market.
The projects include Morecambe and Heysham fishermen's Association's provision of man-over-board safety devices for 14 fishermen.
The Northern Irish Fish Producers Association has been awarded funds to pay for the training and certification of 25 fishermen to offshore safety standards for support work in the offshore renewables sector.
The Kilkeel Strategic Partnership, Anglo North Irish Fish Producers Organisation, Fleetwood fishermen, Sea Source and West Cumbrian Shellfish Fishermen have also been awarded cash.
The body has previously handed out £125,000 to four different schemes in the UK.
