Gamesa signs Russian MoU

RUSSIA: Gamesa's Indian unit has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Russian turbine specialist Rotec to explore turbine development.

Gamesa opened a turbine factory near Chennai, India in 2010

The deal was signed as part of a state visit by Russian president Vladimir Putin to India.

A spokesperson for Gamesa said the MoU was to "explore mutual business interest" in renewable energy in both countries.

Gamesa was unable to disclose further details about the deal.

Rotec is part of the Renova Group, which also owns one of Russia's largest utilities IES Holding and renewable energy developer Avelar Energy Group.

Rotec specialises in servicing gas and steam turbines and manufactures other power generation equipment.
