The current steel tower can be built to heights of 135 metres, although the company plans to increase this to 160 metres in the near future.
Because the towers are built up from small sections, transport costs are significantly reduced and installation is easier, the company claims.
The towers are circular in shape and comprise multiple pre-bent steel sheets, each 2.8 metres wide and 12 metres long, with precision prefabricated bolt holes. Optimal materials usage for this specific turbine-tower combination resulted into a tower mass of only around 400 tonnes, according to Lagerwey.
The company revealed recently that it is already installing turbines on two wind projects in Finland with a total capacity of 27.5MW.
Previously the manufacturer has only won small orders for one or two turbines, mainly in Finland, making this its first major contract.
