Goldwind launches low-wind turbines

CHINA: Goldwind has launched two new 2MW low wind turbines, the GW115/2MW and GW108/2MW, at China Wind Power 2014.

The 2MW turbine is based on Goldwind's 2.5MW platform
The machines are based on Goldwind's 1.5MW and 2.5MW platforms. The G115, which features a 115-metre rotor, is designed to suit locations with a wind speed of 5.2 metres per second.

Trial operation of the first prototype began in Q1 at a test site in Zhangbei, northern China. Hubai Group has signed a strategic framework agreement for 500MW of G115 turbines.

On the same day, Goldwind announced an agreement with Hewlett-Packard to colaborate in develop wind project management software.

Goldwind took the opportunity to celebrate the making of its 10,000th permanent-magnet direct drive wind turbine. Goldwind is the world's largest supplier of such wind turbines. Statistics show 23% of new wind installations in 2013 employed the direct drive technology.
