Sembmarine secures Dudgeon contract

UK: Singaporean engineering firm Sembmarine has been awarded the contract by Siemens to design and build the offshore substation for the 402MW Dudgeon project.

Dudgeon will use Siemens' 6MW turbine

Sembmarine will be responsible for manufacturing the jacket structure and topside of the platform. It will be built at the firm's facility in Lowestoft on the UK's east cost.

Siemens previously ordered a substation from Sembmarine to be used at the 300MW Thanet offshore project, off England's south-east coast.

The German firm was for Dudgeon by Norwegian developers Statkraft and Statoil in September. It will also supply 67 6MW turbines for the project located 32 kilometres off the coast in the North Sea.

Work on the electrical infrastructure is set to be completed in 2016 while full project commissioning is due in 2017.
