Nordex wins 51MW follow-up Finnish deal

FINLAND: Nordex has been contracted to supply turbines to the 51MW Kuolavaara-Keulakkopaa (Kuke) project for fund manager Impax Asset Management.

Nordex's N117/3000 turbine will be used at the Kuolavaara-Keulakkopaa project

The German manufacturer will produce 17 N117/3000 Generation Delta turbines for the project located in the Lapland region of Finland.

Installation is due to begin in the spring of 2015, with commissioning expected later next year. The turbines' rotors will also be fitted with a de-icing system.

It is a second order for Nordex from the UK-based investment firm. Impax ordered nine N117 turbines for the 27MW Joukhaisselka project, also in northern Finland.

Both developments were bought through the Impax New Energy Fund II, which invested EUR 330 million in the renewable energy sector.

Impax signed a EUR106 million project financing arrangement with KfW IPEX-Bank for Kuke.

This year, Nordex also received orders to supply turbines to Wpd's 33MW Makikangas project, and the 45.6MW Myllykangas project, developed by Taaleritehdas.
