The Germany family firm has built up its business over the last ten years through the development of noisless brake pads and plates made of expoxy resin, which last for 5 years, according to managing director Ingo Jungblut.
The company now makes big brake systems, with sliding bearings and pads. Its products are used in 30,000 turbines globally, added Jungblut.
The passive yaw sliding bearing system has no hydraulic oil or a hydraulic power unit, removing the risk of oil spillage. In testing, said Jungblut, the active brake system lasted for 8 million cycles, which equates to a 50 year lifetime.
"As well as the manufacturing facilities in Germany, we have a manufacturing site in Beijing, China, because we already have a major contract there," said Jungblut.
