A new procedure for allocating this capacity to individual offshore wind station projects has been launched by the federal energy regulator Bundesnetzagentur ( BNA).
Wind project operators have until 1 October 2014 to apply to participate in the procedure, and the BNA will then decide whether the allocation will have to be made by tender.
The BNA said this will only be necessary if overall demand by the eligible applicants exceeds 1,722.7MW or if the physical maximum for any particular link to the onshore network is exceeded. The new rules for the allocation of transmission capacity were published by the BNA on 13 August 2014.
