The numbers show that 384MW was connected in the first six months of the year, compared with 198MW during the same period in 2013. Total installed capacity, including the overseas territories, now stands at 8.59GW.
More than 500 projects, with a total capacity of 6.37GW, are now on the waiting list for grid connection, including 3.12GW offshore. Of these, 202 projects with a capacity of 2.29GW have signed grid connection agreements.
The revival is due to measures taken over the past 18 months, said renewable energy association SER. Most importantly, wind power development zones and the five-turbine minimum threshold were scrapped in early 2013, and last May the energy minister signed a new decree re-instating the onshore tariff.
