The US installed 405MW in new capacity last month, with new wind projects contributing 379MW.
The added wind capacity added in July includes the 218MW Panhandle 1 project in Texas, owned by Pattern Energy.
Panhandle I is located in Carson County, 48 kilometres from Amarillo in north Texas. It uses 118 GE 1.85MW turbines.
The remaining wind capacity came from the 161MW Spinning Spur II project, also in Texas, developed by EDF-EN.
Cumulative figures between January and July from Ferc show there has been just under 1.2GW of new wind capacity added in the US, approximately 25% of all new generation.
