The American brewing and manufacturing subsidiary of Belgium-based Anheuser-Busch InBev installed a GE 1.6MW turbine at the Fairfield Brewery and hopes it will begin operating by October, taking the entire factory's alternative energy capacity up to 4.1MW.
Anheuser-Busch predicts the addition of the turbine will mean 30% of the factory's electricity is produced by non-traditional sources.
The first turbine was manufactured by GE and installed in 2011. The plant also uses solar and bio-energy recovery systems to meet its electricity needs.
