Minor construction has begun at the project in Comanche County and a ten-year power purchase agreement has already been signed with retailer Wal-Mart for around 60% of the project's expected output.
Pattern said that it expects to arrange financing for the project, and start full-scale construction in the fourth quarter. Commissioning is due in late 2015.
A turbine supplier has not yet been announced, but the developer said the project will consist of between 50 and 100 turbines.
The project is located in Texan grid operator, ERCOT's, north zone and will connect to the 138kV Comanche Zephyr line, which crosses the project site and supplies power to the Dallas, Fort Worth area.
Pattern has developed, financed and commissioned around 3GW of wind projects in the US, Canada and Chile. It currently owns and operates 11 developments with a capacity of 1.5GW.
