Nordex wins 50MW Uruguay contract

URUGUAY: Nordex has been handed a contract to construct a project in northeast Uruguay, which includes the supply of 20 turbines.

Nordex will supply its N100/2500 turbine to the unnamed project in Uruguay

The German manufacturer will supply its N100/2500 turbines to the 50MW project, located in the state of Cerro Largo just 60 kilometres from the border with Brazil.

Nordex said the customer is a subsidiary of an Italian utility believed to be Enel Green Power, according to sources. The developer has also handed the supplier a two-year servicing agreement.

Yesterday, Enel said it had started construction of its 50MW Melowind project in the Cerro Largo state.

“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence reported in 2013, the project application specified the Nordex N100 2.5MW turbine as the preferred model. Melowind is currently the only wind project planned for the Cerro Largo state.

The project's wind speeds have been averaged to 8.5 metres per second suited to an IEC-2 wind class turbine.

It will be the first time Nordex have supplied the N100 Gamma generation turbine to a project in the South American country.
