Romax inspects Sheringham Shoal turbines

UK: Romax Technology has carried out inspections of the Siemens turbines at the 317MW Sheringham Shoal offshore wind project as they come to the end of their warranty with the manufacturer.

Sheringham Shoal is located 17 kilometres from the UK's east coast

The contractor has carried out tests on the main bearings, gearbox, electric cabinets and blade inspection for the owner Statkraft.

Such work was necessary so that Statkraft can negotiate the terms of new warranty for the 88 3.6MW turbines with Siemens. Romax has also provided maintenance training for staff working on the wind farm.

The project is located 17 kilometres off England's east coast and started operating two years ago. It was developed by Statoil and Statkraft, but the latter was chosen as operator.
