The trade association's revision to the guidelines now includes equipment and techniques used in the offshore wind industry, as well as other renewables.
IMCA technical director Jane Bugler said the sector had seen an increased need to transfer personnel – a trend that is set to continue as the offshore wind industry continues to grow.
The publication covers transfers between vessels and offshore structures via different types of gangways and sizes of boats, and the equipment that should be used.
It also highlights the importance of communication between the workers to ensure a safe transfer and advises adequate training and risk assesments are conducted before all transfers.
