RES will carry out maintenance, data management and remote operations on the structure, located three miles (5 kilometres) off the coast and near to the Blyth wind demonstration project.
Last week, ORE Catapult announced it was selling off its assets related to the 99MW development site after the Crown Estate opened the Blyth project to offers of interest from new developers.
The project was being developed by the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), which successfully took it through the consenting stages.
ORE gained ownership of the assets following its merger with Narec in April.
The development body said the offshore anemometry platform installed near the site in 2012 would not be sold to allow research and data licensing services to continue being offered.
RES has previously carried out O&M services for met masts at Forewind's Dogger Bank development and Smart Wind's Hornsea project.
