DENMARK: The Lindoe Offshore Renewables Centre (Lorc) is setting up a facility to test substructures for offshore wind turbines.

The new centre, being set up in partnership with fellow Danish development body Force Technology, will be designed to test offshore foundations and subject components to extreme weather conditions.

The test centre will also have the capacity to test the mechanics of the foundations.

Lorc said it also plans to build an outdoor test site for full-scale foundation testing. The new test centre is due to be ready by the middle of 2015.

The Danish testing association has also announced the arrival of a 68-tonne base adapter, which will be used to test nacelles with up to a 10MW output.
