Iberdrola Renewables USA will now not build the Wild Meadows project, which was due to feature 36 Gamesa G97-2MW turbines, following a dispute with the state's Department of Environmental Services over the 48MW Groton project.
"While we continue to make significant progress resolving various outstanding issues at our Groton wind farm, our experience with that situation, combined with the current political and regulatory climate in New Hampshire, leave us no choice but to end our efforts to develop and invest $150 million at the potential Wild Meadows wind farm," the company said in a statement.
The dispute over the Groton project concerned hearings by the state's site evaluation committee in which the fire marshal and other agencies said changes were made to the project outside of due process.
As a result, the authorities have threatened to remove Iberdrola's operating certificate for the Groton project, which has been spinning since 2012.
The developer initially said in February that it had put the Wild Meadows project "on hold" while it worked out existing issues with the Groton wind farm.
