The two projects are the Ducal-Membrillo and Huayrapamba wind farms, at 50MW and 54MW of installed capacity respectively.
However, the two projects are some way below the 4,800-metre high Naqu demonstration wind farm in northern Tibet, the current record holder.
In 2011, Goldwind built a pilot wind farm for high-altitude facilities on Xitie Mountain, located in north-west China's Qinghai province, at 3,300 metres above sea level.
The projects in Ecuador are set to be completed in the next 18 months, with an investment of approximately $220 million, and are expected to produce 350GWh a year.
The Loja provincial government is driving its wind development plan in the southern region of the country, which includes other projects Cachipamba and Huacacocha.
With the already installed Villonaco wind farm, capacity in the region will reach 145.50MW.
Earlier this month, an intellectual property agreement for both wind projects was signed by the prefect of the province of Loja, Rubén Bustamante; José Vicente Aguirre, manager of Enersur, the province-owned renewable energy company; and Hector Mattio, director of the Chubut Regional Centre for Renewable Energy in Argentina, which is providing advice for the whole wind development plan.
