Fintel has received approval for the 6.6MW La Piccolina wind farm from the country's transmission operator, as it remains on track to complete construction of the project by the end of the year.
Along with a 9.9MW project in the country being developed by another Fintel subsidiary, La Piccolina will be one of the country's first wind farms. The project is located in the northern Serbian town of Vrsac.
Grid approval for the project follows that received in early April by Fintel subsidiary Vetro Park Kula for a 9.9MW project in Kula. Construction of that project is also expected to be completed by year end.
Meanwhile, Serbian renewable energy developer Energowind — 50% owned by local oil and gas firm NIS — broke ground late last year on a 102MW project in Serbia's northeast.
Market participants note that Serbia offers strong wind resources and a solid feed-in tariff of EUR 92/MWh although, on the downside, there is a 500MW capacity cap.
