GERMANY: The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) and WindEnergy Hamburg have struck a deal to hold a joint conference every two years in the German city.

EWEA told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç that it will no longer hold its annual conferences in different cities around Europe on the years it combines with WindEnergy Hamburg, but will instead base the event in Hamburg.

Every other year from 2016, the two bodies will work together to hold a joint conference and exhibition in order to avoid a clash between two separate events.

In the intervening years, EWEA will hold its conference and exhibition independently as it has done previously. These events will be in other European cities.

WindEnergy Hamburg will no longer hold an independent event.

A spokesperson for EWEA said that an official statement on the move would be released "once the details of the agreement have been finalised in the next few months and confirmed by both parties".

In 2013, the organisers of the Hamburg and Husum wind energy trade shows agreed that the next international event will be jointly organised and held at two-year intervals in Hamburg from September this year.

Husum will now host a national wind energy trade fair on the same years as the events solely organised by EWEA.
