The Chinese company's 4MW turbine, with a rotor diameter of 136 metres, will be used on the project. It is believed to be the largest wind turbine made in China to be delivered en masse to a commercial offshore project.
Envision installed the 4MW prototype turbine at a test site at Longyuan's intertidal zone wind farm in July 2013.
Speaking about the turbine, Envision director Anders Rebsdorf said: "The EN136/4MW incorporates a high-speed three-stage gearbox and induction generator. The main components originate from mature supply chains."
Envision is also the developer for the EN128/3.6MW two-blade turbine in Denmark, which uses an innovative partial-pictch design. The first 21 metres of the blade is a fixed stall section, with no pitching, while the outer 42 metres are capble of pitching.
Envision says this design reduces extreme loads applied to the turbine, which, in turn, allows lighter towers and foundations needing to be installed.
