The company said that the planned 81MW Dalnessie development in Sutherland and 36MW extension of the Fairburn project in Ross-shire are no longer deemed "financially viable".
SSE has carried out reviews of both projects in the north of Scotland and has concluded that further investment in their development cannot be justified.
"Each project is dealt with on a case-by-case basis, and the decision to end Dalnessie and the Fairburn extension means that we can redirect resources to the best projects in our portfolio," sais SSE director of onshore renewables Colin Nicol.
The 41MW first phase of the Fairburn project has been operating since 2010 and features Senvion turbines.
SSE that it will cut its spending on offshore projects in the UK after a number of setbacks.
