CEOs from Acciona Energia, Alstom, ERG Renew, RES are discussing the EU's 2030 renewable energy targets. They are meeting under the auspices of the European Wind Energy Association's (EWEA) leaders debate.
Speaking at the event, Runevad said: "It is a positive step that the European Commission has proposed a binding target for renewables, however what is essential is that there are national binding targets. That is why we encourage the EU member states to support adopting this policy.
"We are convinced that the European states will recognise the significance of this policy."
In January, the EU excluded binding country-specific renewable energy targets from new emissions-reduction proposals.
But in a snub to the new legislation, the European Parliament has voted for binding 2030 targets for renewables, greenhouse gas reductions and energy efficiency.
The wind industry had been pushing hard for the inclusion of country-specific renewables target for 2030, similar to the 2020 goals.
While EU president José Manuel Barroso announced a proposed target for 27% renewables by 2030 for the whole of the EU, countries will only set targets "if they wish".
