The German certification company will examine and access the overall design and key components of the 6.2M152 turbine.
The company will examine the technical documentation and test individual components on the test rig. Then they will carry out factory inspections and production controls and measure the prototype turbine’s performance.
Repower’s 6.2M152 is a development from its 6M offshore platform. It is a 6.15MW rated machine, has a rotor size of 154 metres and a hub height of 124 metres.
According to Repower, the 6.2M152 has a 20% higher energy yield thanks to the increased rotor size.
The first prototype will be installed in 2014 at a site in northern Germany. Repower added the turbine will go into commercial production in 2015.
