RES moves into German market

GERMANY: UK-based wind developer RES has opened an office in Germany as it looks to realise its ambitious plans for expansion in the market.

The company said that the new office in Stuttgart, in the southern state of Baden-Württemberg, has been fully operational since the start of December.

Frank Finzel, general manager of the new subsidiary, RES Deutschland, said the business is already "engaged in significant discussions with a number of stakeholders" in the country.

He added that RES is looking to become a significant player in Europe's biggest wind market.

Recent changes in Germany's renewable energy law were cited as a key factor in attracting the developer to the country.
