The turbine, which the company has designed and will manufacture, features an integrated helicopter landing pad.

A 140-metre rotor diameter turbine will sit on top of a "lattice-type" full jacket tower. The structure extends from the seabed to the bottom of the nacelle, replacing a traditional tower-foundation combination.

The company aims to finalise the first unit and start testing the machine overthe next 18 montha.

The first turbine will be tested onshore at Eemshaven harbour. Two more machines will follow a year later, offshore, at the Methil project, near Scotland's Fife Energy Park, UK.

The Dutch company will manufacture the turbine and 2-B Energy plans to become a major turbine manufacturer.

Founded in 2007, 2-B Energy is made up of individuals, including engineers, project developers, supply chain and commercial managers, from companies involved in offshore wind.
