Yard Energy acquires KDE 900MW portfolio

NETHERLANDS: Wind power investment vehicle Yard Energy has bought Dutch wind developer KDE Energy.

In taking on the company, Yard has acquired KDE’s 900MW project pipeline in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Poland.

The deal does not include KDE's its UK subsidiary Infinergy. This will be retained by privately-owned Dutch construction firm Koop Group, which was a shareholder in KDE.

KDE does not currently operate any wind farms, as it is focused on developing projects on a turnkey basis and selling them on to operators.

The 22 projects that are currently being developed by KDE are at varying stages from pre-planning to construction.

Yard was set up in 2004 to arrange structured finance for wind projects. It has a wind portfolio valued at around EUR 150 million, and currently has 250MW of projects under development, discounting the recent acquisition of KDE.

The companies did not reveal the financial terms of the deal.
