Juwi held a 75% stake in the 10MW Chebucto Pockwock community wind project, 4MW Whynotts wind farm, 4MW Truro Heights development and the 6MW Millbrook wind farm, with the remaining share held by community organisations.
The projects are all in Nova Scotia and will qualify for the community feed-in tariff. Construction of all four wind farms is set to start in 2014.
It was also announced that Vestas has been selected to supply the turbines for the projects. The Danish manufacturer will supply 12 V100-2.0 MW turbines for use on the wind farms.
Juwi said that it will continue to offer development, financing, and construction management expertise and will remain on as the projects' asset manager once ownership is passed to Firelight.
Canadian renewable energy investment partnership Firelight already operates two wind farms, both in Nova Scotia, with a combined capacity of 82.5MW.
The remaining stakes in the projects will continue to be held by community groups, Chebucto Pockwock Lake Wind Field, Whynotts Mi'kmaq Wind, Eskasoni First Nation and Millbrook Band.
