The US Army Corps of Engineers, New England district, released a notice requesting the public’s comments on moving the previously proposed Narragansett Town Beach landing six kilometres south to Scarborough Beach.
In August, opposition from local residents forced Deepwater Wind to withdraw its proposal to run an electric transmission cable through Narragansett from the Block Island offshore demonstration wind project.
The Narragansett proposal has now been eliminated from the proposal, together with the long-distance horizontal directional drill landing for the export cable.
Block Island will consist of five 6MW wind turbines, a submarine cable interconnection between the turbines, and a 34.5-kilovolt submarine transmission cable.
Deepwater Wind also submitted an environmental report modification as part of its application. The proposal can be seen .
The deadline for submitting comments to the corps is 27 December.
