BRAZIL: GE emerged the big winner from the recent Brazilian A-3 power auction, having been awarded contracts to install 545MW.

GE's 1.85MW turbines will be installed on some of the projects
Following the auction, held on 18 November, the US company was picked to provide 1.7-100 and 1.85-82.5 turbines for 26 wind farms being constructed by seven different developers.

The wind farms on which GE's turbines will be installed are being developed by Casa dos Ventos, Eletrosul, ContourGlobal, CEEE, PEC, Rio Energy and Chesf in the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia and Piaui.

The manufacturer will also provide operations and maintenance services for the wind farms for ten years.

The total amount of energy auctioned was 867MW, meaning GE will provide turbines for 63% of the capacity sold.
