Huadian given approval for 200MW project

CHINA: Huadian Power International has been given permission to proceed with plans to develop a 200MW offshore wind farm in waters off the coast of north China's Hebei province, according to the company.

Following the approval granted by the Development and Reform Commission of Hebei Province, Huadian Power International has been given the go ahead to launch early-stage preparations for the project

The wind farm is to be built in waters of Caofeidian, Tangshan, about 250 kilometres south-east of Beijing. The economic development zone of Caofeidian is an island created by a landfill in Bohai Bay.

The 200MW project will use 67 3MW turbines.

According to Hebei's plan for offshore wind farms, which was approved by the National Energy Bureau last year, the province will build 5.6GW offshore wind projects.
