Nordex secures 43MW German low wind order

GERMANY: Nordex has received a 43.2MW order from Steag New Energies for a development in Brandenburg, Germany.

Low-wind N117/2400 turbines will be used on the site

The order is for 18 of the manufacturer's N117/2400 turbine and represents the largest single project purchase of the model in Germany.

Work on the foundations is set to start in early 2014, with the wind farm set to go online in October 2014.

In addition to the supply and installation of the turbines for the Ullersdorf project, Nordex will also construct the foundations.

The low-wind turbines will be attached to 141 metre towers to make the most of the below average wind speeds at the site.

In January 2012, and nine months after launching the turbine at EWEA 2011,  installed the first N117 in Germany.

The turbine is arguably the central plank of Nordex's turbine range and CEO Jurgen Zeschy strategy to corner the low wind market.
